Our History
The Berean Baptist Church was started from a meeting in Dr. Johnson's home in Riverdale, Georgia,
on November 9, 2003 (the second Sunday). In attendance were Dr. Willie R. Johnson, Sr., Rev. Carolyn D. Johnson,
and Rev. Annette Rayner. The first public Worship Service was held at Dr. Johnson's home in Riverdale on
December 7, 2003 (the first Sunday). There were twenty-three persons to become members, charter members.
The first Pastor was the Rev. Dr. Willie R. Johnson, Sr. Under his leadership the government of the church
was set up.
The first church location upon moving from Dr. Johnson's home was 6733 Springdale Drive- Suite A2,
Riverdale, Georgia. The first service was conducted on May 16, 2004 (the third Sunday) and this Sunday is
recognized as our Church Anniversary. Later that year, Rev. Carolyn D. Johnson and Rev. Annette Rayner
were ordained as Christian Ministers.
Other accomplishments are:

Radio Outreach Ministry was established on WJGA, 92.1, Jackson, GA.

Three choirs were formed: Praise of Faith, Voices in Praise, and Joyful Noise (Later changed to Evelyn D. Wells Joyful Noise).

The "Friends in Christ" Nursing Home Ministry was established at Cornerstone Nursing Home, McDonough,
GA on the first Saturday of each month.

The Church joined the New Macedonia Baptist Association, Jr. of
the Georgia Baptist Convention where the Rev. O. D. Tyler was the Moderator.
The Lord blessed us with our present location in 2005. The first
service conducted here was on May 15 (the third Sunday) as we celebrated our
Second Church Anniversary. The Lord has blessed us in many ways too numerous to
list as we minister according to His Word.
